Default Do I need XL tyres?

Right, now I have a 1.9CDTi 150 Vectra and am in need of two new tyres. I'm looking to move to the 225/45/17 size and fancy the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric (£87.50 each from Camskill). The thing is, they only seem to have the 94Y XL rating which I believe is unnecessary. I currently have 91Y rated tyres.

The question is, will they actually be OK for my car or could they cause problems? What is the difference between the two? And how would I know that they were different?

Why can't choosing tyres be more simple!?!!?

nope, only the 3 ltr needs XL rated tyres.. yours won't

they will ride hard, but thats about it..

best to stick to the correct rated tyres, even if it means not getting them from the internet

Sure is - that's what they leave the factory with.

I'm just changing to the 225/45 because

    1) they are also a Vauxhall approved size and
    2) there's an awful lot more choice out there.

Nope. If you want to get away from 215/50 then change to 225/45

The 45 is a % of the tread width. The 225/45/17 is very close in size to the 215/50/17. Its also the recommended alternative size in the manual (plus they are cheaper )
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

As said cost, and more choice of tyres.

The original 215/50/17's are a bit of an odd size. I think to replace the original NCT5's your looking at around £130 for what i think quite frankly is a cr4p tyre
