    Default Confused with fault codes

    I have a Vectra C 1.9 cdti Active Select 150 Hp model 2005 (AF40). In these days, I have a strange problem. Getting the malfunction alarm lid on the front panel with a spanner. Then, I can only drive in 2nd speed. I believe it is emergency drive mode or safe mode. Also, sometimes engine lamp is lid on the right front panel. After a start stop, It may gone sometimes by itself. While stopping, I've felt knocking during speed changes from R to N, N to D or vice versa. All received fault codes are the same;
    P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
    P1700 Transmission Control Module (TCM) - Service request signal
    U2106 Loss communication with TCM
    I am really stuck where the problem is but all signs TCM. Dealer wanted to change the transmission which is not the way of dealing problems.
    I've found the part number of TCM as 123 2044 or 555 60156 or 553 53934 and I am confused again.

    Any info and idea about the problem and the part number will be helpful.

    you can try a few things first...disconnecting the battery to reset the transmission ECU...checking the state( condition and level) of the trans fluid..

    if they come back as 'normal' condition and level, and it won't reset, then it does look like it needs a new trans control module.. I wouldn't change the entire box yet..

    the coeds you have given are codes telling the engine you have a problem with the gearbox....the lack off coms one may be a can bus error you will need the gearbox ecu tech testing to see what codes it will tell you ..i would get some one to take a sample of oil from the gearbox and inspect it for contamination ..it has been known for the af40 to break up internally ...

    I've changed the battery 1 month ago and also changed the trans fluid 2 times. First for the refreshment and test start, second is 2 months later for contamination check. Fortunately, fluid seems ok.
    Is ECU different than TCM? If yes where is it? Dealer showed the TCM in between engine and battery. I have the photo but not with me now.
    How can the ECU be reset and tech tested? PC was connected to the car (Under front ash tray), received faults reset many times and coming again some time later irregularly. Fault codes are always same and as above.
    If TCM is diffrenet than ECU and I have to change it, What is the part number of TCM and how much does it cost? Can you please tell about these?

    I certainly wouldn't replace the transmission. The Unnnn code points to an electrical problem.
