    Hi all

    new on here
    i am currently a member of astra owners club as i have a Astra MK4 2.2 sri, but i am currently looking to buy a vectra c sri 1.9D (150) so what i was wanting to know is there anything i should look out for when buying one and what are the common faults with this engine if there is any?

    engine faults are the same as the astra 1.9 150... the usual dodgy turbo/injectors/inlet manifolds/EGR valves..

    if you are going to get a 1.9 diesel, get a good warranty.. they are cracking engines, but some of them are utter dogs...now where near as reliable as the Z22SE...

    apart from that the vectra is well put together....

    I am sure there are thousands of happy 1.9 owners, but it does seem that the engine does have "common" problems such as EGR & swirl valves, %-wise I dont know...I test drove a 1.9 (150) & was very impressed, you do get performance & economy, but the reported faults put me off.

    If you're buying used, check to see if it's had these problems already - swirl valve & inlet manifold should be fine once replaced with upgraded parts. EGR valve should be cleaned by the dealer.

    Clutch, flywheel and turbo are other less common, but disastrously expensive faults with the 1.9CDTi.

    If you get a good one, it's bulletproof. If you pick a bad one, god help you

    Get a 3.0 V6 - much more reliable
