Which are the best, and most widely recognised in the car industry for giving good reliable information that could be relied upon to make a deal??

I think the trade use Glass's guide.
I think Glass's values tend to be a bit higher than CAP on many models, so trade generally go on CAP when buying and Glass's when selling.
yeah glasses for most trade i think... you normally have to pay to use it but if i remember vx let you use it free through there site
EDIT: £2.95 Normally here's the free link http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/finance/valueyourcar.do
ADMIN: maybe this link could be a sticky in the selling section (only an idea)

That's great.
My next question would have been how to get a copy!
To get your paws on a copy of Glass's or CAP you have to know a friendly trader, dealer or finance company employee.
Not CAP or Glass's. Just Parkers and What Car?! Tend to find these give unrealistally optimistic Trade values with the gap between trade and retail very small. As much as we don't like to think about it, a trader/dealer has to prep, pay VAT and make a bit of profit out of the deal.
