Default CD70 Mono to Colour Screen

    Hi there,

I currently own a 2005 Vectra C pre-facelift 150 CDTI. It has the CD70 with a mono screen. I am wanting to swap this to a colour screen and have been reading about the issues on here with regards to ebay and systems that have been removed from cars without the programming. Has anyone done/had a quote for a upgrade to a colour screen from Vauxhall? I know this would be expensive for the complete system, but as I already have satnav and the CD70 headunit, all I need is the colour screen and fitting. Has anyone any experiences with this?

    Thanks all.

According to Parkers, a colour screen in lieu of monochromatic display on a CD70 was £250 at time of launch. Probably a bit more now.

you'll need to check the wiring, but you'll need the screen and a tech2 session to pair it to the CD70.. it's not a plug n play...and get a new ( or unpaired via tech2 'delivery mode' ) screen so you can be assured it will work..

    that is the cheapest part
    you'll need:
    - a new display (CID): new... somewhere around 750 euro ; you can find them sometimes on eBay but you have to be sure that they are unpaired and come out of a vectra/signum otherwise they are useless;
    - the RGB-cable: dealer (part-Nr. 62 94 476, Art-Nr 13 185 491, around 60 euro) or eBay
    - a tech2 session at your dealer

As everyone says obtaining the screen is the hard /expensive bit, but fitting it is a doddle and is plug and play.

When you remove the old screen / vents you can then very easily threadle the RGB cable behind and down to the radio.

The cable that plugged into the monochrome screen plugs into one connector on the new screen.

Connect up the RGB cable to the other and te radio and it's time to navigate to your dealer!!!

The other thing you may need is a different vent surround - I believe there are two different types one for mounting the monochrome screens and one for colour. no idea how much they cost as mine came complete.

So I emailed my local vauxhall dealer (perrys) and asked for a quote on a colour screen. Their reply:

Hello and thank you for your enquiry

Regards changing the screen , this is not a modification that we have carried out before and Vauxhall can not confirm if it can be done without changing the dash harness but to give you an idea of cost the screen alone = £1456.00 . if you wish us to investigate further please get back in touch

    Regards

Has anyone got any idea what part number the colour screen is? With the price they have quoted, I presume that they are including the cd70 unit as well as the screen?

I will take the screen out of my car over the weekend and get you the part number, but that price is consistent with what I was told.

realistically need to find one that has been removed from a car the proper way, they do come up occassionally

Good on Perry's for the response as my local dealership proved to be as useful as a chocolate fire gaurd
