    Default Rear Brake Discs

    Folks,

Quick one for you, what thickness should rear brake discs be?

Mine dont look too bad so contemplating whether to chnage but need to know if the thickness is about right. Like I say, all looks good, new brakes, discs look OK, so just down to thickness now.

    Let me know please.

    Thanks people!

    Much appreciated!

Typically you can get two sets of pads to one set of discs, although the rears may not last that long depending on use
Basically, if there is a groove clearly visible that the pad has worn into the disc then it's time to change

I use the rule of thumb, scored discs..replace, worn discs with a 1mm or more replace.. wear and tear fine...
as these arnt cheap but in reality the only thing that stops you... worth the investment!

    New rear discs are............

    10mm if solid

    20mm if vented

I would change either of them if they have a lip of more than 2/3mm

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

Thanks guys, didnt really notice any grooves in them so just left them as it started p1551ng down. Maybe next time. Will try to get a snap of them to show. I also have a spares set I took off one of my older cars, will have a measure and check the thickness! Thx again guys!

I have in the past gone on the way I drive. I get Two pad changes to a set of disc,s. But this now all depends on the composition of the brake pad and disc. I think that the Disc is made of a softer "cast iron" than they used to be, hence the disc wears down sooner. By the look of the discs on mine I would say I will need to change the disc,s and the pads both at the same time, rather than Two sets of pad,s use to a disc.
