    Eek Swirl fault

Had the spanner over car light come on 2 days ago then the eml light came on , Took to stealers so he could plug it in and said it was the swirl actuator and would need replaceing with the inlet manifol, Was quoted £738.43 for job total. So went to next stealers down the road to get a quote and they said £884.43 for same job, But when see put my number plate in her system she said we replaced that in Nov 06 , I do remember taking it there to have it serviced and said it's runing lumpy can you have a look, So when I went to collect later on they said they had replaced swirl vaules but it was in warranty so nothing to pay so I didn't think about it at the time and they didn't give me any paper work for this.
She said sorry the part is out of warranty when would you like me to book in for you , I said is this right- part only 18 months old and it brakes she just smiled and said sorry out of warranty.
Question is this right only last 18 month (20,000miles) or did they fob me of the first time and claim for the job from vauxhall ££....??????????????

Plus is the first price ok...???

Price sounds about right - it's a good 5 hours labour for a start, plus new valve and manifold.

I think you should give Vx customer care a ring though, see if you can't come to some arrangement with the part being so recent. Don't expect them to cough up the full amount, but if you ask nicely (and forcefully) you may get an offer of goodwill part payment...

It *should* all be recorded on their central computer system. Would be worth having dates etc to hand when you speak to them though, just in case.

In 2006 it was still the original designed Inlet manifold thus the problem reoccuring maybe, the new improved design came out in mid 2007 i believe

Yes, they should all now be the redesigned version, quite noticeably bigger by all accounts. As parapaul said ask for a goodwill payment lay it on that you was thinking of buying another newer vauxhall at some point soon and see what they say..

Had mine done few weeks ago and was quoted £850 notes and got VXL to pay half - car was 9 months out of warranty.
Manifold and swirl valves are lot bigger than the one that was fitted to my 54 plate.
Don`t know how true this is but apparantly there is a big difference to later models. The dealers excuse for taking 2 and a bit days to do mine was the different lay out compared to later versions. They removed bits of the exhaust and other bits (cannot remember exactly) to do mine. Also the regular techs started mine but had to get a senior guy to finish it as it was so different.Glad I didn`t try to do it myself.
Apparantly according to TIS the new version went into the production line feb 2007.(stated numerous revisions until this version)It therefore suggests that anyone who had it done previous to that MAY still have problems.Know of one chap having his done twice,so is therefore on his 3rd inlet manifold.

    EDIT-here is my story http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50067

I had the limp home mode today with the spanner & car light on

when i got home i had a quick look & the swerl bar was stuck,

i found the below quote on another forum, saying theres an update for the ECU as well (have any of you heard of this update

off too phone the Dealer tomorrow

    1. Yes there is an ECU update, they should do this, but let them know you are aware. Unfortunately you will not be able to tell unless they show you on Tech 2.
    2. The ECU upgrade limits the range of movement of the swirl valves to prevent them sticking. Additionally the 'flaps' are made from a different material, once again to prevent them sticking.
    3. You wont notice any difference at all to the running of the car (from before it went u/s).
