As above. Got up this morning and noticed through the front door, that my front gate was open. Funny i thought, it was closed last night (I went to bed at 01:30. So, i went out and shut it (at 06:00 - on my way to work); then i turned around to go back in the house and noticed that the lead flashing had gone! i thought.
Someone had nicked the lead between me going to bed and me going to work, somewhere between 01:30 and 06:00.
I phoned the Police from work at around 07:30, got a crime no. etc, rang the insurance and they wanted £100 excess!! So rang around a few mates and managed to get new lead flashing, ladders and 2 mates to help me put some new back up tommorow.
P.S. 6 other people on the street were done as well. The police came around tonight to take a statement, but said there was really nothing they could do about it, other than record the crime. But hey, at least they showed up and knocked on all the doors in the street to do enquires. So good on them, they did all they could
I'm posting this to say that for the sake of a 4x1.5 foot piece of lead - what is the effing point? I know that the persons responsible will have probably done a few more places, but if i had gone through the insurance, as some of the other people on the street have done, it would be costing me around £300 I've managed, because i can and have the friends to help me, repair it for around £60 (or will be doing tommorow)
There are a lot of scum sucking, no good for nothing tw@ts around!
I feel alot calmer for sharing this now.
