Default Springs - fitting? help required!

Hi all. Have searched on this theme but can't find anything straight forward - apologies if i've missed a relevant thread.

I'm looking to fit lowering springs - front and rear, and have had a quote of £130 from the local garage. My questions are these:-

    a. How hard is this to do myself?
    b. Does anyone know where I can get some clear and concise instructions on how to do it?
    c. What tools would I need to complete this myself?
    d. Is the quote from the garage a good one? I'm reluctant to pay >£100, but if the job's too big to do myself one Saturday, I may just pay it.
    e. Is there anyone in the midlands area who knows the score and could give me a hand?!

Thanks all in advance for your great advice as usual.

Easy with the right tools, but if not dont bother trying.

if you dont have a set of spring tensioners i wouldn't bother riskin injury...

I paid 20 a corner tho from a garage on astra, sounds fine... i'd pay...

If you don't know what you're doing then don't attempt it mate, you may regret it. For a start you'll need a spring compressor. There are people who will tell you you don't need one, and whilst yes it is possible to do it without, I personally would never recommend it (it'll only take your head off once). Shop around for quotes and get it done properly for your own peace of mind mate

Well I think That's a bit much. You're looking at about an hour and a half, tops. Pity you're all the way down there, I'd do it for you. Unless you fancy a run out

It's a little under 400 miles round trip, which is just a wee bit too far. But thanks for the kind offer. Having rung a few places, I now have a quote of £80 - which is a bit better.
Sometimes I wish I had the equipment in my garage and time on my hands to do this kind of thing myself. It'd save a lot of money in the long run!
