    Cool 0-60 times?

I timed myself after having the exhaust done and I recon I got 7.6 sec!

I started and stopped the watch myself and made sure I pressed the button before releasing the clutch then went just past 60 on the clock to acount for the error. On top of that she was wheel spinning a bit and the TC light was doing an impression of a Chrismas tree decoration.

I've noticed that the new TopGear mag says that the 1.9CDTI 150ps is 9.8 sec 0-60!!! Which is definatly rubbish

Seen three german tests with the 150hp 1.9CDTI.

    A saloon: 0-100km/h: 9.7s
    Two estates: 0-100km/h: 10.9s and 11.0s

    100km/h = 62.14mph

whats to say that your speedo is accurate

    if its 10 % out, your doing 0 - 54 in 7.6 secs !!!

It's about 5% out at max because the fuel computer doesn't apply an error so it gives you a true reading.

Plus as I said I waited unitl 63 on the gauge to stop the clock.

I lose nearly a second for the two gear changes which is why the diesels are so slow to 60

As to the tests they did, I have 235 toyo wheels which provide LOADS more traction.

I had someone else time me before now (with just a tunit box, which gave much less power and standard 215 tyres)

They started the watch as they said go, so there was my reaction time to subtract from the 0-60 time.

I told them when to stop, having exceeded 63 on the clock, so there reaction time had to be subtracted.

And the wheels spun like ******y

With all that I got 8.8 sec on a cold wet evening.

So the 0-60 of a heavily tuned 1.9 could easily be under 8 seconds.

Can't wait till summer, with hot sticky tyres I will realy see what see can do.

You did not get 7.6 seconds.....FACT. 8.8 is the true 0-60 time and these times are done by engineers who drive the cars a little harder than we do.

There is no way you will get an accurate figure with a stop watch.

I have the same engine in my Vectra and a Zafira GSi, the Zafira GSi in standard form is 7.6 seconds according to the book and it will destroy the Vectra from stand all the way to as fast as you dare go.

Even with the tuning box, the Zafira is quicker.

And yes I am comaring a standard Zafira GSi.

After first reading this thread, I decided whan I was out to try the theory with the Zafira, I got a time of 5.9 seconds which is total ****, even with the 260bhp it has got it would no way pull 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.

I recon with a tuned 150 you'd be looking at a 0-100mph time of aroun 20-21s 0-60 probably not a great deal better than standard 8s I recon

Totally agree, you won't get the benefit of a tuned diesel until your entering the mid range.
