Angry US Department of homeland "security"

    I hate the above organisation.

Just got back from Houston and opened my suitcase to find the contents trashed. Everything was obviously pulled out of the case and simply thrown back in. My spare medication was scattered about the case and even worse they had taken a bottle of 18yo glenfiddich out of it's sealed bag, out of it's carton, opened it and simply thrown the OPENED bottle back into the case. Clothes ruined. 12 volt fan for the motorhome removed from case and broken. What a mess.

The only tidy thing was a printed note from the above safety organisation stating that is was opened as a part of protecting their wonderful country from terrorists and giving a 1-800 number for any further information. yeah, like that's going to help.......

Absolutely mad about it. I only went there in the first place to help their rotten economy make better use of their oil.

Presumably some anti alcohol zealot at play and really enjoying his job.

And they wonder why the whole world hates them

...and that's simply inexcusable! - the chucking back in while still open. although wasting a bottle of that is also sacrilege! lol

Can you claim back for all the stuff they ruined? Did you take pics of it when you opened it?

What's the point - I'm a regular visitor to the USA, about 6-8 times a year on business, and complainers tend to end up in the black book and get the full marigold treatment on entry (pun intended) next time they turn up.

Writing it off to experience and a big dry cleaning bill.

TBH more upset about the amber fluid loss than the ignorant barsteward that did it.

They could all claim that they found it improperly packed anyway - my word against theirs and they are all powerful.

went to mexico on our honeymoon a few yrs ago and one of our cases had the padlock bust off it so the bag could be checked, questioned it at the airport with security and the rep and was told that ''they can do as they please, it's for security'' i was livid to say the least

i would still say something to some one when you go back next time as a pint of principle

When you pack your bag, leave a kind note on the top so they will see it asking if when they have a nose around they have the decency to put it back properly!

When I went to the Bahamas, I came back through Orlando. I had bought homeland security recognised padlocks. The idea is they have a special key to open the lock without busting it. When i got home I too had a note saying they'd searched the bag and bust the lock!
