    Default troubleshoot spanner light

So the Signum (04 1.9 deisel) decided to give me a new icon today.

After 3 or so minutes of driving, enough for the engine to get warm, the spanner comes on and kills my turbo.

The car is running 5 to 10 degrees hotter than usual, not anywhere near enough to be concerned with though.

Turn of the engine, immediatly start the car, and its another few minutes before it turns on.

My mate has a el cheapo OBD2 Tech 2 USB reader and it reports NO error codes.....

So im confuddled, has anybody had a similar issue.

Had a new alternator fitted last week but this problems has taken a few days and over 700 miles to show its self so im not convinced its that.

One thing to consider is as with all these Vectra C's and Signums are all fully of different control modules and ECU's most of the OBD scan tools wont cover 90% of the control units, you need something like a TECH2 or similar device

had a mate with a snap on reader look at it, reported as air flow, yet mass air flow is still reporting correctly, gonna check and clean EGR valve, plus carb cleaner in the air flow meter as per a recommendation.

Dont rate snap on scanners on anything new like these. Personal preference i guess.

Would be worth just having a look in the surrounding areas where the alternator is to see if something has been disturbed or wires / plugs not seated correctly

    more advice needed please....

new MAF, new EGR valve and solenoid, cleaned inlet manifold sensor (boost pressure).

Ive checked the hoses, and so has the AA guy and he says they are ok, "otherwise you would hear them"

I cant feel a turbo boost, and after a mile or so the spanner light comes on. Drives ok besides this, but its totally gutless. A bit of smoke on hard accelleration.

Any advice appreciated... im at the end of my teather

yep, my best advice is to get it to VX or an independant equipped with VAUXCOM as these are about the best you will get to help you diagnose your fault and end the component chasing....it'll cost you £45 to get it read, but how much have you laid out already..

come back with the codes and we can help you more..
