Yep, did my first clay shoot at Bisley with a friend and found I wasn't half bad! Like you though I found I had to close one eye to get it right - possibly something to do with the fact that we'd spent the morning rifle shooting! lol

Shot since, clay and rifle, and would like to do more - especially clay. Just a case of finding the time.

    Oh yes!

Been thinking of getting a licence, but not over keen of having a firearm in the house, even in a metal cabinet.
The cabinet has to be bolted to the fabric of the house, and out of view.

The police inspect the first time then can do so any time thereafter. I don't know how much now, but I think it used to be about £50 per year.

I got rid of mine cos I was using it less & less & the good shoots started to disappear.

    I still miss it tbh!

Did you ever shoot over at Millride Ian ?
Went a few times myself. They had a skeete set-up and traps. Really enjoyed it.
Went a few times with a couple of workmates who were in the "Pigeon & pest control" group. We'd go to some fields near Arlewas off the A38 towards Derby. Shooting Woodies over the rape fields on a cold sunday morning, sat in a hide with the decoys spread infront of us, then into the local hostelry for dinner !

Have consideration for the deaf, if you're gunna fart, make it smell !

I shot for the Navy during the 'Army-Navy' games. We used to get slaughtered, but the p*ss up afterwards was fun

I used to go to Mill Ride quite often Phil!

I also used to go opposite the Hollybush and round the back of there if you turn off before. Cant remember the names of the places.

There was a pub over Brownhills as well, used to shoot at the back of there. Coach & Horses I think?

    Default Shotgun Licence stuff

Your licence is now valid for 5 years, costs about £60 to get one and renew. As mentioned before plod visits to check out why you want a licence and also to check to see where guns are to be kept. Requirements can vary slightly from police force to police form. A 4 gun cabinet will cost you 60-100GBp and has to have top and botton mortice locks.

Previous post also mentioned it has to be bolted to the structure of the house using rawbolts and must be concealed from casual view. Gloucestershire police are pretty good and the local firearms officer is actually human! (no offence to plod)
