This sort of thing really annoys me. The amount of time I follow local bobbies doing 40 in a 30........

Still, I expect they have a good reason

    And?
His hazards were on and the officer was assisting someone.
The alleged report of why they were actually there is total boll8cks.
And you must be mad if you think the force in question will waste their time hunting down the officers, for anything more than a sighed slice of advice from the Sgt during morning briefing such as "be aware there are people with camera phones out there".
Transparency is one thing, but members of the public pathetically trying to elevate themselves above the law by taking sly photographs of bobbies makes my flippin blood boil
It's a terrible slight on the ever disintergration of our society,I wonder if the person who took that photo would have still done so if his or a family members life had been saved by the Police, previously.
Or indeed if the Police had helped return his or hers stolen beloved dog,or car,etc etc...me thinks not.NO ONE IS EXCEMPT FROM THE LAW,but with regards to the use of cameras/ phones discrection should always be the better part of valour.... Rant Over.
God you can tell i'm on a rest day to much time to rant!!!!
Oh and one more thing general public...stop watching us because whilst your doing that the criminals are having a laugh at YOUR expense.

If they are on duty and engaged on a job then I am sure that the victim would rather the copper dealt with the crime in a timely manner instead of trying to find a space in the local car park.

However, if they are parked dangerously and or on a personal errand than it is just asking for trouble. It's just a shame that someone caught it on camera and the media thought it was news worthy. I'm sure "Police caught shoplifter and returned stolen goods" wouldn't have made it on to the site.

Pull it to shreds. Remember we still respond to your jobs if you do or not.

Got to agree, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW - that cuts both ways.

Parking on double yellows is an offence, and clearly these coppers didn't have a real, valid reason for doing so (if they were getting cash / shopping. Hazard warning lights are meaningless in this situation.

How can they enforce the law if they cannot uphold it themselves ?

When I was a student I reprimanded a female police officer for parking on a zebra crossing zig zag area. She was dealing with a stolen bike ! There was also a car park not 50m away, but she clearly thought it better to park on the zig zag area for over 1 1/2 hours. Obviously she didn't like the remarks from me, and her attitude and the words "p!ss off" got my goat enough for me to make a complaint about her.

Generally I am a supporter of the police, but when they do things like this, you can see why they are alienating themselves from the public.

Jamie, if you saw a 'joe's' car doing the same, would you ticket it ????

There's one big assumption being made here - and in that report - and that is that the so called 'witness' is actually correct in what they were saying and that the car wasn't stopped there for another/additional reason?

Yeah, it says one was seen in an ATM queue blah de blah, but all that is in that newspaper report are comments from one person, who has absolutely no idea for definite why the car was stopped there.

Trial by lynch mob/press? Sounds a bit like it!

There was one last week in the paper, armed cops from Glasgow airport parked over a disabled space at Asda, left their guns in the car and came back out with their bags of shopping
