confused Tyre Speed Rating MOT Failure?

I had my 05 Vectra MOT'd for the first time last week and had an advisory that the tyres had different speed ratings. Does anyone know if this is a failure for the next MOT?

    Thanks

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

Speed ratings are not an MOT failure. Different sizes on same axle would be though.

    What are the speed ratings?
I personally wouldn't go anything less than 91V and even then only temporarily
The minimum is more likely to be 91W

    confused

I got a puncture in my OSF on saturday and was told by spotty at Stapletons in St Albans that I needed all of my tyres replaced as they were 'W' rated and not 'V' rated they came with the car.

If thats the case, should I contact Vauxhall and ask if they'll do it FOC - they've covered 34k now.

Trying it on there mate. The handbook says V rated for the Vec. V rated tyres are for speeds up to 149mph, W rated are for speeds up to 168mph. Going a higher speed rating is fine, but go down over and your insurance will have a get out clause.

Depends on the model but a lot of the C's have a W rate specified which is a higher speed rating than a V.

It may not be an MOT failure but I would be concerned about insurance and liability if you have an incident and it were found you have a lower than manufacturer spec tyre.

I had this with a local fitters - I ordered (and they invoiced) 215/50 91W but actually fitted V rated. A couple of "assertive" calls later they were replaced with W rated ones!

A little while later I noticed they had actuall fitted them the wrong way (asymetric!), but that's another story (and no, I will not be going back there!)

    Red face

    Gary3306.

I got it wrong - mine are 'H' rated and I was told they should be 'W' rated.

Still the same tyres that came with the car when I got it from the VX dealer in Hemel Hempstead

I couldn't understand what you were having a go at me for there because I thought yea well I've just put all that, then I read my post again and it is a typo, I should have put 'W' for the handbook, not 'V'

    Heyyy I'm human

Ahh well in that case, yea you do need them changing. H are only rated up to 130mph
