    Default Trip Computer Erratic

    Hi there

The MPG on the trip computer keeps on changing every second, even on the motorway. Is that normal? I have a 2005 1.9 CDTI Elite.

    Thanks

Only know what the CD70 screens look like...

On the MAIN page, BC icon the mpg is INSTANT CONSUMPTION, this will change as you accelerate/brake etc.

Press the BC button to get average readings, assuming it has not just been reset these readings should remain fairly consistent.

I think I was talking about the Instant consumption. But with a fairly constant acceleration, should the Instant consumption change every second (sometimes from 60 to 15)?

Is the average consumption just a fixed number that the manufacturer sets or does it reflect the actual average mpg of the car?

    Thanks again.

The instant consumption jumps about constantly, evenw ith cruise control on when driving on the motorway, beause even the road isn't exactly level, obviously normal driving, gearchanges etc its all over the place

the instant is at that moment in time, the average if you reset it will be the same, but over mileage it settles down and won't change much at all. yes it is a reading of the Average consumption since it was last reset.

Is it an average since it was last reset or an average of the last 20 or 30 miles? I don't know but I suspect it's probably the latter.

The average consumption is since the last reset.
But the estimated miles to go with the remaining fuel is based on the average consumption of "the last 20 or 30 miles" (don't know the exact miles)
