    Question Cambelt on 1.9cdti 16v

Phoned the stealers today gave them my reg and they told me it needed doing at 100,000 miles or 10 years. So just phoned differant stealers in the next town and gave them my reg to see if any cheaper and they said 80,000 miles what is going on.First stealer said I was close to the change over. Does any one have any idea!!

First garage said £250 second garage said if I have service at the same time £400 or £290 just cambelt, 80,000 miles. Why would one stealers say 100,000 and the other say 80,000 confused

Because VX changed the service schedule as they don't last as long as they said it would. VX and a lot of other car makers have done the same in the past. I have my reservations of them lasting 80k. Some on here have had them snap well before the service interval.

Its your choice really, but Mine is 10 years or 100k on the 3.0cdti and I'm getting it done at 60k. Its just not worth the risk imo.

I would definitely get it done, just not worth the expense and aggro if it were to break.

I had mine done 3-4 weeks ago at 90k. I was told by one garage it was 100k or 10 years, then another told me it was 90k or 10 years, then another garage told me it was 60k or snap!

Anyhow, mine is a 120 SRI CDTI, they charged me somewhere in the region of £300 I think, but I had a small service done on it as well.

I wouldnt risk it, get it done mate as these engines are dear to get sorted with a snapped belt!

Better off paying £300 now rather than a 2nd hand engine at £700+ plus the fitting at about £500!!!

    HTH.

Why do the belts not last very long then?

Is it down to poor material, or just one of those things....

Designed like that to make more money i reckon...
