    rolleyes Gas Bonnet strut....

    Hi all..

    On my 2005 vectra i had a gas bonnet strut on my 2006 i don`t...

    Anyone can these be fitted?

    If yes were can i purchess?

    the answer is NO m8 as i have changed the front of my car and they dont put the gas strutt on the facelift something to do with the crash zones as my m8 told me today at his body shop

    Not unless you want to fold your bonnet in half

    The bonnet on the facelift is aluminium, much lighter and the gas strut is too strong for it.

    Yep, the facelift is all alloy, the prefacelift has steel ribs I believe.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    I thought the prefacelift was totally alloy as well? The only difference being that on the prefacelift the grille was incorperated within the bonnet giving it more strength than the facelift bonnet - which is just a piece of flat alluminium.

    On the pre-facelift the skin is aluminium on a steel frame which can take the pressure of the gas strut, the facelift ones being entirely ally could be bent by a gas strut that was too strong. I don't know why they didn't just fit one with a lower force

    the f/lift bonnet is alot lighter the the pf/lift with also is made of alloy with a steal frame
