    Default facelift chassis Qn

    Hi,
    I have seen a few "55 plate" facelift vec's about, if they have the new lights, does that also mean they have the new chassis underneath, & is there anyway to tell just by looking under the bonnet/around the wheel arches etc ?

    facelift literlly means what it says
    its the same car with cosmetic changes.
    most companies will do 1 facelift maybe 2 then next time around a whole new motor wil come out with different styling and chassis

    well. i thought that it had front suspension work done as well?
    From Parkers;
    A new front end disguises major chassis changes that make the Vectra more able to compete with the Ford Mondeo and Mazda6 and heralds the beginning of a new era for all Vauxhall products.

    ----

    and this is from the topgear website;
    Luckily, the new one isn't just a tickle under the chin and some extra shiny bits: the entire front end has gone, replaced from the base of the A-pillar forwards with something more familial. In this case, more like the new Zafira and Astra.

    So you get a new bonnet, wings, bumper and headlights grafted on, with a host of changes underneath.

    The larger, three-dimensional headlamps are a big improvement, the three vertical crease lines in the bonnet add some visual dynamism and the re-designed front bumper is more aggressively profiled. But the big news is that we now have a UK-specific chassis set-up.

    I don't think its too much of a redesign suspension-wise, most likely just tweaking of the settings and spring/damper rates etc.

    As said, the facelift car had major work on the chassis which makes it a far superior drive.

    tis true, having driven both SRi models, pre and post facelift, the facelift wins hands down. Its a lot more sure footed on turn in and doesnt crash as much over bumps.
