    Default 314mm Saab Brakes

These ex-Saab used discs/calipers that many peeps have fitted - how worn are they when you get them? Is it minimal, commensurate with the handful of miles you would expect a new car to cover when making the journey by truck/ship/truck from Trollhatten to the UK dealer, or is it more?

Also, are they worth buying for a car that already has the 302mm discs, or is it only really worth it for cars with the smaller discs?

I haven't clapped eyes on mine yet so can't comment on wear etc. - but I'm expecting it to be no more than delivery mileage. Cabby is still holding onto my set for me (I got another set of 314s as a spare set) as he picked them up for me.

Re your other question - after fitting the 314mm kit to replace the 302mm set on my 2.0T I can confirm that good as the 302mm are, the 314mms do make a noticeable difference.

My ex-Saab 314mm brakes were damn near 'as new'. The pads showed no discernible signs of having been used.

302's versus 314's - Chalk and cheese, mate, chalk and cheese. The bigger brakes 'bite' that much harder when you need them to - ask my mum who insists on not wearing a rear seat belt because she insists it's not mandatory. Good for her the front passenger seat was there. Not that dramatic really and she was unhurt but she felt the force when I slammed on.

I may have a set of these for sale soon as I bought the from the said Saab dealer and have not fitted them yet. The Vec may well be going before they get fitted.

Will post in the For Sale Section when and if I do.

    Cheers
