I seriously doubt anyone's got that size tyre fitted.... but as ditchp said, go for something else. You get what you pay for, and they're the only things sticking you to the road.

BTW, you want 215/50/17 or 225/45/17

I don't have Avons on my Vectra but I recently put a pair on the back of our Galaxy. They are ZV5 reinforced and they look to be a good midrange tyre to me, they're certainly not a budget brand like all this Chinese stuff about at the moment. I checked out the internet before buying them. Here's their site :

    http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/index.php?page=about

Oh, and they're actually made in England - that does make a difference to me. I'll probably be putting ZV5s on my Vectra when the current Slovakian Goodyear NCT5s expire.

"they're the only things sticking you to the road."

Indeed, Avon actually use that phrase on their site.

Avon tyres are made on the site in melksham tyres, they are now called cooper avon. I used to work there. The only way they give good grip is because they use a soft compound, hence less miles from them.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Big Sig - Given that you used to work there, what's your opinion on their tyre range? Would you fit them?

Yes I would and have. Although I would fit the cooper branded ones as sometimes they tend to be cheaper. The "ZZ" range is the sports aimed ones. The "ZV" the not so sporty ones. I had the ZZ3's, they were very good, but only lasted 8-10k.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I had a ZV3 on one of my front wheels and it wore better than the Michelin Pilot Premacy on the other side, and was just as good in the dry and in the wet. I now have ZZ3's on the rear and they are just as good if not better than the ZV3's, although they are 225/45/17's rather than the ZV3's 215/50/17

    Default didn't like the Avons

I had the 215/50/17 Avons on the front and didn't like them. They wore pretty fast (not much more than 15k!) and seemed to show some splitting signs (a bit like the Slovenian Goodyears but not as bad).

I'm changing to the Michelin Primacy today - maybe a bit boring but if they last I will be happy.
