Default have i done the right thing????

hi, i have owned a vectra b 2.0l sri for the past 18 months as my dad left it to me when he sadly passed, however with the rocketing petrol prices and tax and a few things needing doing i have decided to buy a vectra 1.9cdti sri on a 54 plate, its 2 previous owners 71k on the clock star silver all the usual refinements of the sri, there is a lack of service history as it has been a finance repo but its in good nick, i have ended up paying £4000 with my vectra, does that sound reasonable to you? it drove well and was very quick in my opinion, i work in a volvo dealership and it drove aswell as one of the new s40 2.0td we do, any comments are welcome as id like to know your opinions cheers paul

They are a big step in refinement over the B aren't they

You should be fine, would be worth giving/having it fully serviced now so you know everythings been done and you have a "datum" for future cyclical maintenance

sounds like a decent enough deal there paul and a good veccy you have got yourself.
as for the lack of service history i would make sure if it didn't have a service before you picked it up get one done asap.
also i would reccommend a timing belt change along with water pump and tensioners,i know its the last thing you want to here and spend more money but it is on the safe side.
good luck with the new motor btw.

deal sounds ok, i'd get the service and cambelt done... if only for piece of mind.
As for the cost of a service worth shopping around local stealers price varies. but over £30 between them for the basic stuff. as to have reversing sensors install the local x3 stealers quoted from £220 - £345. ouch...
use decent oil though... Opie do some on here.
