Used that method on my Cavalier, Vectra B and the wife's Lanos and your right its a bit fiddly and I spent 20 minutes for a clip that went flying!

Those clips are fiddly and a bit of a pain but easy to deal with once you've had a bit of practice!

Thanks, going to be a little wait though as I'm not around this weekend so no progress to be made then so unless I get some time this week in the evenings (which is unlikely to be honest) there won't be any progress until the following week. But watch this space, the next part of the build is to start the boot build, which is when the fun starts!

Well, I'd like to make a personal thankyou to the great british weather for well and truly screwing up another perfectly good weekend for me (but at least I got to watch the grand prix in peace I guess)

The joys of not having anywhere undercover to work on the car I guess.

On the upside I have now decided which headunit I'm definitely purchasing and am about half way there saving up for it already (I've been told I'm not "allowed" to buy it on the credit card lol) but this is an absolute peach of a unit and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I've decided to go with the Alpine IVA-W505R (one of these http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/ivaw...n-p-12905.html ) lovely lovely bit of kit, integrates Alpine's portable Sat Nav unit directly through a slot under the CD slot so that's going to have to be purchased as well and have already got my mind set on the Alpine DVB Tuner for digital TV. Of course wanting and having are two different things, but hopefully in the next month or so these will be mine.

What this does mean is that my current old amps are pretty much null and void, no point in doing the boot build round those when they wont be able to cope with the pre-amp output of the new unit even temporarily without stepping it down which gets messy. Anyone want some old amps? (going cheap) lol

So, this project is on hold pending new head unit and some serious cash flow injection for now. I had planned on doing a "temporary build" using the old kit, but to be honest that just seems a waste of time and effort so will do it properly when I get the new kit. (Why do kids have to cost so much damned money? lol)

I'll update again once I actually start doing some work on it again. Hopefully the new head unit will be in the not too distant future.

Nice choice of headunit, very partial to Alpine myself!
Know what you mean about the weather, wanted to do some work on my install too but the rain saw to that idea!
Look forward to see your next update.
