    Default New phone options

Just been given the list for my new company mobile. I don't know much about mobile phones, so here's the list of choices for some constructive comments from the Vec-C Massif.

    Nokia 6300

    Nokia E51

    Nokia 6233

    Motorola K1

    Sony K530i

    Vodafone V1415

    Samsung U700

I currently have a 'pop port' handsfree kit installed in my car, and would like to use it if possible (unless the only phone that works with it is carp)

    My needs are,

Compact, robust, decent camera, decent memory for storing music and pictures, MP3, EASY TO USE !, good battery life, bluetooth, all the usual features like alarm, calculator etc.

    Any advice welcome.

I can only give a comments on Nokia 6300, as my friend and boss have one.

They both went through 3 units, before they got one that worked right and my friend also says that if you are on the phone for more then a few minutes, the unit starts to get hot and it is not that robust.

I can only advise on Sony Ericssons, so Sony K530i would do it for me, as I cant stand Nokia's.

I have had my W800i for about 2 years now, still going strong and as solid as a rock. Every corner has been crash, bang and walloped, yet it keeps going.

Sony E's generally are quite strong and as with all others, are packed full of stuff you will probably never use. HTH.

We use the Sony Ericsson K530i as our standard company phone and its fairly reliable (we have over 100 of them).

Our execs get the V1415 as it runs Windows Mobile 6 and supports email but it is a rubbish device in terms of reliability and usability and will be replaced with a new model soon.

    I've got a 6300 for work use, and I used to use a 6233 and a V1415
The 6300 is nice and slim, but does seem a bit delicate. The 6233 is a lot more robust but a bit bulkier, but it does 3G, where the 6300 doesn't. It also handles a lot more media file types.
We also used the V1415 for a while and it's slow, unreliable and feels half developed. Unless you want email on the move, don't touch it.

out of the ones I've used, I'd go 6233.

I've had a 6300 for about 10 months now, I agree with the comments that it gets warm during use but I've left it out in the garden in the rain and dropped it more times that I can remember onto various surfaces (its currently got a big dent in the metal cover) and it still works OK.

I know someone with the E51 and he says that whilst its a good phone the battery life isn't up to much (I suppose thats the 3G though).

for all round useability and features the Sony Ericsson is about right, the rest are there or thereabouts. The only reason I left the SE fold was I wanted a change, and I do miss some of the easy to use features they offered.
