    Question CAP Value

Anyone ever heard of this before? I hadn't until I was speaking to (well, emailing) the sales staff at Perry's in Dover about my current car and its PX value.

Glass's guide says PX value is £7600, but CAP reckons £7200... So being the curious beaver that I am I looked it up. It's basically an automated, live car valuation site, that delivers results by email or SMS based solely on registration number and mileage. Found a review here

Anyhow, I have to give them a call to talk about it some more

Glass`s guide doesnt actually list a "PX" price, what you will get is a Retail guide, a Trade guide and a Disposal value.
So depending on the dealer thats how he will base his offer on your car, most dealers now just want to ripp you off.
Glass`s Guide is exactly what it says as too are all the other books out there, its just "A GUIDE" this doesnt give you a true value of what your cars worth.

If i was Part exchanging i would like at least bottom book (trade) and thats as standard so if you have any light mods then ask for more, also if your mileage is lower than listed again ask for more.

    Good luck mate.

CAP is just another trade book similar to Glass's guide. Usually known as CAP or the black book.
Usually CAP values are more realistic than Glass's when used to buy cars at auction, or that used to be the case!
Some traders will use both books!!

None of the above take extras into account, if you have added plus packs, ESP, IDS or any other tick boxes then it is worth more than the quoted price.

They'll give me £7200.... Guess they go by CAP value!

Edit: @ Nutron, CAP apparently identifies factory fitted extras and adjusts accordingly. Mine has none anyway
