    Default Engine oil pressure

    Hello,

I'm a quite new owner of VC 1.8VVT '57 plate that has done 11k miles. I've got one concern regarding engine oil pressure control indicator.

When I start the engine after a break (15 minutes and more), this indicator goes out after 2s. When started again, indicator goes out immediately. I recon there is something wrong but I'm not sure if it isn't typical. It only happens once and only after "first" start after short/long brake.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

it's not too slow, but it's because the oil is draining back..thats what will be causing it..2 seconds isn't too long. the GSi takes longer and thats giving 55psi of oil pressure..

Thanks. If I'm to be honest this is the first car (I have had a few) that behaves like this that's why I have this concern. But good to know this is a normal thing. I had some theory about this but I wanted to be assured if I'm right or wrong. Thanks.

Just to confirm - what you see in this film http://dagmaralukasz.co.uk/INNE/vc.wmv (first start, indicator takes around 2-3 sec. to go out, every start after indicator goes straight away). Anyone could make similar film and show me... Damn, I know I'm horrible but I prefer to ask twice

btw - Why I cannot edit my previous post?

i'd not be worried if it took 2 seconds to go out on startup when cold or stood for 15mins or so, but goes out straight away when it's hot/quickly restarted..

Just for the record - I checked two SRis 1.8VVT today - exactly the same - something between 3 and 4 seconds and indicator is gone.

don't worry - I'm still going to see another 2-3 cars to confirm the confirmation. As I said earlier I have had many cars: Renaults, Citroens, Fiats, Fords, Opels, Toyotas, Volvos and none of them was doing this. Sorry, one was - Polonez but its oil pump was broken .

Probably oil pressure sensor is in the end of oil circuit and that's the reason for the delay. Whatever - I recon it's better to ask twice then to be sorry
