    Default some people..

put my old car on ebay last week, and had loads of people watching it, some idiot used the buy it now and then emailed me saying "please cancel my bid it was made in error'??????????
i cant cancel the bid as the auction has ended. i cant file non paying bidder for at least 10 days and im now liable for fees amounting to 40 quid. And the cars still sitting there waiting to be sold.

as they say there is always one....this really hacks me off.

What a pain. I had loads of d!ckheads from around the world using buy it now on an item I was selling, then sending me an email promising cash AFTER I send it to Nigeria.

If you can give feedback I suggest you slate him.

ps - many try and place bids, then retract them to discover your reserve.

its his own fault for not retracting it - its up to ebay to rectify and small claims court to recover the cost of the vehicle.

i sent them this email hopefully they will sh*t themselves and pay the fees..

i have contacted ebay, they tell me that this is a scam in which bidders can cheat the system to find out the reserve price on the item. unlucky, you will be contacted by ebay in due course. You will be contaced by my insurance backed small claims service to recover the full funds for the vehicle, and as you entered a contract when bidding and confirming looks like you will have to purchase the car afterall.

as i say, the only way you can avoid this action is by paying my fees, although i cant do anything about ebays enquirys its now out of my hands.

    regards

I've had it happen both ways.

I've had people doing the same as your bidder, putting in bogus bids to expose the reserve but luckily i managed to remove the bid straight away.

On the other side, i won an auction for a jetski a couple of years ago but the owner "forgot" to set a reserve, (listing fees are higher if a reserve is set) He then refused to let me have it as it was £500 below what he wanted! He wanted £4000 and would not budge I should have reported him to E-bay but found another just after so i let it drop.

You can actually get your fees back within 10 days if you file a non-paying bidder alert and he confirms that he doesn't wish to purchase the item. You then get your fees refunded.

It's so irritating when that happens, I had the Nigerian bidder problem when someone used Buy It Now to purchase an item then asked me to post it to Nigeria. I had him banned from eBay.

I avoid using Buy It Now on my auctions nowadays, way too open to abuse.
