Veccy C to replace Veccy B?

A work colleague is looking to replace his 150k V Reg Vectra B 2.0 GLS with a suitable Vectra C or Signum.

He wants a petrol model, ideally less than 10k on the clock (may look at less than 20k) and similar performance to his 2.0 16v. He's not after real performance (he's 58) so the 2.0 turbo's out I'm afraid.

So should he go for the 1.8 or 2.2 and what spec is the best value? Doesn't really need elec rear windows as it's only him in the motor 99.9% of the time.

2.2 would be a favourite choice..and mine..

if he's used to the 2ltr in the weight of the B, he'll need the 2.2 in the C..with it being that bit heavier
