    Default TomTom GPS Receiver

Does anyone on here have a TomTom Mk1 Bluetooth GPS Receiver.

Mine seems to be interfering with my radio reception, and just wondering if anyone knows why.

I have it mounted on a cradle in the boot which the power hard wired into the car so when I start the ignition the receiver switches on automatically. As soon as the receiver kicks into life my radio reception becomes incredibly fuzzy. It did this on my previous CD30 and now on my Pioneer. As soon as I turn off the receiver then the reception is back to normal.

Any ideas any one, it can't be the bluetooth interering because by head unit had bluetooth built in

    Cheers

I've got one, but it lives on the dashboard when it's in use.
I've never had a problem with radio reception, but I'll have a play if I get a minute.

Just a thought, if it's in the boot, what's supplying 5V for the GPS? Some crude power supplies can be electricall noisy.

Same as Phil. I have the same receiver but it also lives on the dashboard. I have the cradle (which they then stopped supplying on later versions) and that is permanently wired in (always live).

I'm guessing the Bluetooth is interfering with the aerial booster in the back?

Also, if it's actually in the boot, you're going to be reducing your signal strength. Why not stick it on the dash? I'll post a pic of mine when I'm home to show how neat you can have it.

    Have emailed Tomtom as well.

I have had it in the boot for years on all my company cars (Vectras). I have screwed the base to the underside of the parcel shelf, and my signal strength is pretty good to be honest. Does take a little while to pick it up in a large city.

It's just in the last few months that it has started this interference. I took it out and brought into the main body of the car, plugged it into a cig socket with a lead and it still had the interference, switch off the unit and the interference had gone.

Would be interested to see a picture of yours, I do like to leave it plugged in so it comes on with the ignition everytime, and I do leave it in the car, cos I know I will forget it one day when I really need it

    Cheers
