Engine mount query?

I'm putting 2 & 2 together here folks...

The exhaust flexi has split, now as they are designed with flexing & movement in mind, does any one think this could be down to an underlying problem I.E. an engine mount failing creating more movement.

If so which mounts are likely to cause this & how much approx cost to replace them?

I have heard that the rear engine mount can fail but only heard of it knocking never heard of the flexy pipe failing ......Not a clue on price i'm afraid !!!!!
