    Default Vectra Gauge Problems

    Hi, ive recently bought a 02 vectra c, club.

    Ive been having 2 problems with it so far;
    1. cruise control does not work all the time and only sometimes if i lift the clutch pedal up.
    2. i have a problem withe the gauges also, driving along steadily the abs light comes up and all my needles dive to 0 and the battery light comes on, the engine still runs fine just nothing from the dash.

    Is this a Major problem? i just bought it from a garage and i have 6 months warranty on it.

    Any Help would be great.
    Thanks Justin.

    1. Clutch pedal spring - easy to rectify and not £££. Depending on their warranty it may cover it. If it doesn't then it's not a biggie to do.

    2. Most likely to be the ABS connector/plug - it's a known problem resulting in all the dials going dead. Again, it depends on the warranty you have as to whether it cover it, but it's a more major electrical one (and well documented on here) so hopefully will be covered.

    just what he said..

    1, there is a retrofit kit to help the clutch spring.. it's about £15 and IanT has done a post on how to fit it.. solves the problem instantly..

    2, early cars had a fault with the ABS plug and poor connection.. that will cause the failures you have described which appear the same as a CIM failure but may well not be..

    if you've just bought it, the garage have to fix it..basic trading standards laws..

    Hi, thanks for all the info guys, rang the garage up they said they will sort everything out.

    I heard the early ones had a few electrical problems but an early one was the only sort i could afford really at my age anyway.
    One other thing i dont know if its right or not is the accellerator, when i change gears there is about half a second where there is no power then suddenly it kicks in is this normal or a problem?

    Thanks Justin.
