    Default ECO2 Tyre Pressure.....

With fuel £ increases and the blockages of depots.
Has anyone tried the ECO2 Tyre Pressure setting on their Vectra C.
    I have 55 Plate ( new shape ) CDTI 150 Elite.

Also - Help ! - a friend has an 03 Vectra C 1.8 SXi engine Z18XE - in their manual they dont have ECO2 Tyre Pressure details BUT in the manual for my Elite the Z18 XE engine listed has ECO2 setting but also the normal pressures are different, has anyone else come across this????

    Cheers

PS just did an 1800 mile run in the Elite to France and Back and got 53 MPG with 4 up and a loaded boot

I'm running my 1.8vvt on the eco tyre settings, undoubtedly the MPG has improved. On my current tank full i've average 39.8 MPG over 460 miles on a combination of Motorway, dual carriage way, country roads, and town driving. My range meter is showing 70 miles, unfortunatly i lost all my dash functionality tonight and can't see how much fuel is left, last time i clocked it was just under a 1/4

The eco tyre settings basically mean you increase the tyre pressure to near enough max settings (for mine = 35 front 38 rear versus normal setting 29/32),the economy is achieved as a result of reducing rolling friction due to reducing tyre surface contact.

the down side is you get bounced all over place, road holding 'aint so good and its a bit noisy - but a small price to pay in achieving a few more MPG.

wont that also wear the centre of your tyres quicker........imo keep the pressure the same as fuel price is less than new tyres

yeah i supose it might eventually, tho its not as if they are massivley overinflated - i'm keeping an eye on the wear pattern as the tyres are new, (max pressure is 35/42)
