    confused limp mode

Hi all, had a problem with my vectra today it's a 2.0 dti 53 plate 46K on the clock, I was doing 70mph on the motorway when it suddenly went into limp mode and a warning spanner appeared on the dash, pulled over and stopped the engine and restarted and all seemed to be OK, also noticed am getting black smoke on heavy acceleration, can anyone give me a few pointers in the right direction. Cheers John

Hi my 20dti went limp and from the forums on here i read that the thin air pipes at the front of the engine bay can split on the connections and one of mine had .. it was the one right at the front just to the right at the top where it joins a kinda sensor thingy .. i cut the split piece out and havent had any more problems .. its worth checking all your pipes for splits mate.. derek

Split boost pipes are common and you should be able to hear it blowing from the engine bay if you get someone else to rev it.

Definitely sounds like split hose, mine did the same two months ago...just before the EGR valve went!
