    Default Taking it apart?

I know nothing about this tech 2 n following on from another thread so please bear with me as this might be a mile off lol.
I want to break an 06 CDTI for spares to help rebuild my 06 SRi, but before I do so I want to be sure I don’t ****** any elec parts in doing so? So can I just disconnect the battery and take parts off the car or is there a procedure to follow first?

Forgot to add, does anyone know if the dash looms are the same between the diesel n petrol cars ?

It depends on some of the parts. Things like the head units in a facelift need to be programmed out of the donor car or they won't work on the new car. Other more general things can just be swapped over.

What parts specifically are you going to be swapping over?

I was looking to use everything in front of the drivers seat and roof lining etc etc?

That is mine atm so that might give you an idea what I might use
Not fitting the seats mind so its mainly all the elecs under and around the dash inc the dash and heater etc etc.

ah.. your doing that firedamage rebuild aint ya

as Duncan said, the headunit needs to be unpair from the display although i have been led to believe this will work as a pair, ie same display and headunit swapped between cars, but havent proven this yet... the instrument cluster would need resetting.. and then security code programmed to your own ECU's id code.

Roof Lining/Wiring Loom just plug and play into the REC in the boot. Your not touching anything in the doors themselves though?

Cant think of anything else off the top of me head.. good luck with it

Theres some type of airbag ecu by the handbrake iirc Mark GSi did mention.. this will be locked into that car and wont be able to be tech2'd out..

The CIM around the steering column needs to be reset too..

Cheers all thats a great help
Yes I am trying to fix a fire dam car
I must admit I took it the diesel clocks wouldnt interchange as the diesel normally has a lower red line to the petrols but not sure about vectra C?
The doors are staying the same yes
Airbag module will be my org as the donor cars frt pretensioners have gone off, so I guess that module needs reseting anyway?
What is the CIM - the switch gear ?
Mine is toast so will need to use a donour part from the diesel or other?

Ok.. the CIM sits around the steering column, i believe the indicator stalks plug into it, the CIM controls functions of the immobilser, indicators, and instrument related function. This can be reset back to blank, and programmed up to the new car at a later date, not a problem..

The instruments whilst i think they would work between a diesel and petrol wouldnt be practical because of the redline on the RPM as you say. give chrisgettings a PM as he knows a bit about instrument clusters..

Whilst tech2 cant reset airbag ecu's there are some specialist companys you can send them off to who can remanufacurew/reset them for you. Will try to dig this info out if you remind me during the week...

bear in mind.. once the CIM is fitted.. you'll need to reprogram the engine ECU/CIM and possibly the DDM to suit the keys you have.. the keys which were created on the donor car you have will need to be used on your project car. Something to bear in mind. Once a key is programmed (the little transponder) not the remote its burnt with a code and cant be redone.. You'll possibly need the Engine ECU too as this may be needed to for the immobiliser side of things, although this can be reprogramed to suit your petrol engine..

I have the original keys for my car and hope to use them with the new parts, so hope nothing ignition wise needs reprogramming ?
Will use my barrel and key in the diesel CIM assuming if I can?
If I just use the dash loom and donor CIM assembly from the diesel I hope to get away with just getting that CIM reset (as you say?)
    Or am I missing something?

A CIM reset out of the old car... And a relearn once fitted into the new one will see you right.

There's also the Body Control Module (BCM) and Interior Electrics Module (IPEC), both of which are behind the glove box area I think. These will also need resetting I would have thought. You could do with getting friendly with a VX Mechanic and getting a print off from TIS 2000 as to all the Module locations. Maybe a walk round the back of the garage when there on there fag break might be in order.

Your quite right about the BCM, forgot about that.. but when you say IPEC do u mean IPC? Which is the Instrument Panel Cluster?

Oh just had a thought, you probably mean the other fuseboard on the passenger side behind the panel?
