    Default Keeping a record...

What does everyone else do with regards to their cars history and whats been done etc??

With mine I've obviously have all my service books stamped up etc, but I also have a massive A4 folder which I keep all receipts for everything done, all tickets, stand passes for any shows its attended just to add to it history, so far I've got about 100 bits of paper for various things in my folder lol with more to come.

To also add to that I've got pictures from when the car was first bought and pics of pretty much every single change and modification so I have about 1000 pictures of just my Vectra lol, is that a bit much??

    I am the same........

I have a folder any part or serice sheets, invoice etc goes in there!.when i go to sell, you could see when the last set of blades were installed, tyres... you name it the only thing not covered is wax, wash, air freshners.

When Mr A, pops along to buy the car in time, he/she sees the folder and drools with excitment, seeing all the service and parts used since i owned the car, they can clearly see its well looked after even though it had the odd supermarket dent.

    worth the little effort IMO.

I used to record everything in the back of the service book, parts purchased / date / invoice number. I recorded everything from mats to tyres. Makes a very complete history when you come to sell.

Having been given one of those rubber stamp kits where you can make your own rubber stamp saying anything im not convinced by a stamped book unless its accompanied by the matching invoices.

I do exactly the same. Only down side to doing this is it reminds YOU how much its cost you over its ownership.
I think it definately helps with a sale but only privately, dealers couldn't care less !

I keep a record too. I have a list of all the things and dates for Larisa,s Vectra and mine too. Very usefull when you have to replace something that you replaced some time back, I tend to find that it was replaced a lot longer ago than I thought.

IMo, The only things that are important, and worthy of keeping, are service invoices and other work done, eg cambelt.

The rest is only of any use to you, the prospective buyer isn't going to care a hoot when the wipers were changed. I would be more interested in how they operate, than when they were changed. (for example)
