    Lightbulb Expensive Tyres

Has any tried Nexen N3000 tyres instead of the over priced Goodyear Eagle NCT5 ?
The Nexen's are half the price of the Goodyears (£65 fitted at Blackcircle)which have only lasted 12k (apart from the two that got tears in the inner side wall)
Can anyone recommend any other tyre makes as well ?

    Cheers

Each to their own, but IMO it's not worth skimping on cheap tyres. They're the only thing sticking you to the road.

True, the NCT-5's are abaout as much use as chocolate teapots, but have a look at something like the Goodyear Eagle F1's in 225/45/17 instead of the fitted 215/50/17.

The 225/45 is a recommended tyre size (it's listed in the handbook) and as well as having a better selection, they're usually cheaper too.

Agrre with Paul. Tyres are the one thing you want to pick carefully as there what keep you on the road and you'll be better off with a good set of boots and the F1's are very good. Got mine for £69.50 off camskill 225/45.

Have a look at Vredesteins as they seem good value for money and a pretty good tyre.

I have NCT on mine. I can not be driving it hard enough. Mind you I do get a lot of screeching from the front when I put my foot down...... Till I tell Larisa to shut up.

Yeah, tyres are the last thing to skimp on. You should find a good branded tyre which is still cheaper than the NCT5's. I've been using AVON ZV3's for a while and so far have been great, on my second set on the front now.

Browse camskill's site and you should find a better option than those ones you mention up there ^^^

Yep, Camskill also gets my vote. Got my Eagle F1 GS-D3's from them for £69.50 each a while back. Noticed the price has gone up now though

Was glad to get shot of the NCT5's.

iv'e got eagle nct 5 on the back and nexen n3000 on the front both fronts and rears with 3-4mm tread and the goodyears allways give up grip first. and that is with standard sri suspension and no other mods. so to be fair they can't be that bad.

Does the Camskill price include fitting? I was quoted £75inc fitted from a local tyre place for the GS-D3's

I've just put a second pair of Goodyear Excellence's on mine to fully replace the NCT5's - the car's quieter and the steering feels better.
