    Default Turbo or supercharger...

I'm a bit new to major engine modications, but which of the 2 options would be better for my 1.8?? Also I don't want to hear any posts about engine conversions lol as its not what I'm after

Secondly whats involved parts wise etc in actually do the modifications, just after help and advice at the moment.

A super charger would be much easier, you would need brackets and a different belt to feed the charger.

I'm no expert but I don't think the standard block, pistons and all the other bits would be man enough for the extra stresses resulting from the turbo or charger.

I once looked into turboing a boat engine - came to £4000 for the bits alone and no labour

Best of luck and I'm sure others more techy than me will be along

supercharger would be cheaper and easier. If you just go for a small amount of boost like with the VXR8, say 0.5 bar or less it should be fine.

A supercharger is a belt driven compressor, usually it is run from the fan belt. Don't know about your car but mine has the air box and fan belt next to each other so adding a charger would be easy.

Mines the same plus there looks to be plenty of room there.

What about the original idea you was chasing with the VXR turbo, would that not work in the end?

It would but it looked a lot of hassle, a lot of people have mentioned super charging and tbh it looks easier and a bit more different lol

Adding a turbo is a lot of work, new manifold, turbo, pipes, oil feed and return. The supercharger just connects to the intake, and fan belt, that's it.
