Fuel Gauge Problem

The fuel guage on my 55 reg 1.8 vectra is going it reads the correct amount but it shuts down for maybe 20 miles then comes on again then after a little while go's off again, then it comes back again,my car has been converted to gas by Millbrook it makes no difference if it is on gas which it is most of the time or unleaded it's got to a point where I know I can get 240/50 miles out of a tank of gas so I am running on the trip,could it be a bad earth or the power to the fuel gauge bad connection,all the other guages are fine.

it could indeed be a bad feed from the sender..

does the dash guage also show LPG tank level..ie, does that also swap over when you swap from gas to petrol?..

the fact the fault is intermittant makes me think more towards poor wiring contact rather than a component failure..

the guage is the same for Gas or Unleaded, there is a rocker switch so that you can change from one to the other if the guage is saying nothing then switching from or too unleaded makes no difference,which made me rule out a sender unit,where are the connections to the fuel guage.
