Default Is this a good deal (before I go and buy)??

    Hi,

After ages of thinking I have decided to go for the 1.8 VVT enginer over the 1.9 150 diesel. We just don't do many miles in this car, only when driving to holidays etc. and with around 40MPG and the price of petrol I think its the best sollution.

    Anyway...

I have found a Vectra 1.8 VVT Sri in a car supermarket. Its metallic silver, 15,000 miles '57' plate. Comes with 19" Snowflake alloys. All this for £9499. Before I sign on the dotted line I wanted to check if this was a good deal?

Also, how does the trip computer work? I couldn't figure out how to change the display from the range display to over stuff like MPG etc. and why does the Sri not have rear electric windows?

    Thanks..

A lot off stuff was robbed from the Sri, but it never had rear electric windows iirc , also some had the rear airvents stolen, chrome window strips etc tec ... I think you could knock at least 1k off the price though tbh ..

Very good... Parker's list an 07/07 1.8 SRi XP as £10600 at an independent dealer, so I would say that's right on the money for a nearly new 07/57. Car supermarkets won't usually haggle on price but if you've got a PX you may be able to haggle them up a bit on that if you're lucky.

Left hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel.

Because Vauxhall are cheapskates and have been dropping niceties like that ever since the Vec was introduced in 2002

Motorhouse have a 57 plate black one with 23k miles for 8k ?? And dickens a silver with 11.5k for £8500 ... The snowflakes do not add to it`s value 2nd hand so I think it is a bit steep tbh ..

Though you probably have the XP kit as well with the 19`s ?

Yes, but that has more miles and does not have the 19" alloys. I never realised these alloys are worth so much, only £400 option from VX but go for around £800 on eBay.
They have offered me £8000 fro my PX so not bad, think I could haggle 12 onths tax and fuel. Maybe get another couple hundred off too if I say I'll buy it when I go back.

If you are happy with the deal then thats the main thing, cost to change is the real cost, not the screen price which is irrelevent when you are trading in really ...

One thing I did notice when I drove it today was a rubbing noise from the rear brake disc, I think it maybe due to it having sat outside for a while without moving, guess it will go after a few miles. Also when my wife drove it around 70 there was a slight shaking to the steering wheel. Would this be down to the 19" wheels? (which I love by the way)

Was the rubbing from the rear there the whole time? If it's rusty discs it should have stopped after the first couple of applications of the brakes.

Wheel wobble will be badly balanced wheels m8. The Vec is a pain because it's really sensitive for some reason. Get them to re-balance all 4 wheels and make sure you're happy with it before you hand over any money.

I paid around £8600 for my 07 plate with 17k on clock in March this year, I dont have 19s on mine. As has been said it is the cost of change that matters, as long as your happy then thats all that matters! You may find one for £1k less but only get offered 7k for your p/x! As I have said in other posts been very pleased with the 1.8 engine, the sri does have a few nice bits missing as has been said, the only thing I really miss is electric rear windows but have got over that now!!!
