    Default trim

anyone have any techniques for cleaning the silver trim on the door of the vectra, as mines seems to have a film of some sort over it!?!?!
As i gave the car a good clean today, even got the tar remover out! lol and could get this horrid film thing off it, its obviously cos the car wasnt really 'looked' after as such before i got it!!

You're meaning the chrome trims on the outside I assume?

Seems to be a recurring issue, not sure what causes it, but a lot of people have said about theirs having this rainbow type film on them. I can't recall if there is a solution, other then replacing them. Maybe somebody who'd had the same thing can help. Mine, fortunately, haven't developed this problem so I can't offer any specific advice.

I wonder if it's anything to do with what people have used on them or pollutants in the air in certain areas?

I think if anything thats caustic has been used on it the silver turns very cloudy and looks dirty all the time.

The only thing I can think of is a cutting polish or maybe some megs Plast-X and see if that has any effect.

The water's got between the layers of the trim, the only way to get rid of the marks is to replace the trim i'm afraid.

The door ones just pull off and are around 30 quid each, the rear quarter ones come with the window, about an 3/4 hr and 70 quid each to buy,or the other option is to buy a set of black ones change the whole lot then no more problems.
