I use wonder wheels, works pretty well, but you need to avoid areas of the wheel that are scuffed or have paint which is coming off.

As above. Wonder wheels is one of those products that recieved critcial aclaim when it was launched, but over time its also built up a real negative view as well. What it advertises it does, it does well, and thats clean your wheels of brakedust etc. But, what it also does is find its way into cracks and chips in your paint on your wheels and start to corrode the alloy and cause your paint to flake off in a suprisingly short period of time. One time i used it, the wheel went completely white and needed a t-cut to bring back the silver. Never again.

If you do use it, use plenty of water to rinse it as you dont want ANY lying around on your alloy. Its a very strong acid and will burn your skin.

There are alternatives around, like P21s wheel gel which isnt acid based and does a good job.

I work in the valeting industry, and at work we use some alloy wheel acid, which breaks up things like brake dust and dirt - dunno if thats the same stuff you can buy from meguiars, but as david said dont get it in a cut as thats usually followed by some choice words being shouted lol - always wear some gloves or something and also dont get it in your eyes, as im sure this wouldnt be a pleasent experience!!!

The whole wheel cleaning is a fine line IMO, for regular cleaning I'd stay away from Acidic cleaners as over time they'll damage the look of the wheel, but they are very good at getting them clean.

I'm currently waiting for my sample of Megs Wheel Brightener to be delivered. Apparently it's not acidic, but I'll wait and see how affective it is at cleaning.

I'd give the Wonder wheels a wide berth. Try Poorboys APC or Virosol which is tricky to find but quiet cheap when you do.

I've been trawling the internet all day mate, looking for samples. are these things you can buy on-line. or are they only available through forums like detailing world ?
