Default Seems they are going to improve the A14.......

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7448758.stm

Well I dont think that is going to do much, it needs extra lanes.
One of the biggest problems I have is with lorrys HGV's exceeding their 50mph limit on dual carriegeways (correct me if I am wrong here about the speed limit). If they stopped blocking the road for miles things would run a lot quicker!

    Is it:
    40mph single lane
    50mph dual
    60mph Motorway?

While I am on a rant why dont we ban transits from the outside lane of motoways as well. They are reconised as the most poorly serviced veichles on the road with many of them overloaded and travelling over 70mph.

Oh and another thing why are lorrys allowed to use the 3rd lane of a 4 lane motorway? Isnt it enough to block two lanes as well as blocking a third? Do they really need to use three lanes as their top speed is usually limited to 56mph.

Oh just incase somethinks I am being biased towards the car I have driven lorrys and vans in past jobs.

    Rant over LOL

Hello bud !!! You are correct for the speeds on the LGV's ... The thing is that the A14 WAS built primarily as a trunk road for the lorries To get goods from the docks to the central road network !!! which helped the small villages out by getting the lorries away from them , but the cars have taken it over and throwing thier weight around as usual !!!! In my opinion the way forward is to get ALL traffic flowing at the same speed ( lorries cars vans and if needed milk floats alike ) This would ease any congestion !!! .... The only problem is the cars would go faster to beat the lorry and take unnecessary risks to do so and that I'm afraid is how accidents occur !!!! I agree about the vans on the 3rd lane of the motorway and to answer about the 4 lane thingy , The only lane the truck can't legally drive in is the outside lane .... further to easing congestion we need to get through to the thick fossils that the inside lane is not a lorry lane ... It is in fact the driving lane and the rest are overtaking lanes !!!

    Thats a very good point!

There is a small amount of car drivers who sit at 50 or even below that on the inside lane. Never understood that at all as I think it is so dangerous and secondly I would not want to be over taken by foreign lorrys drivers either.
