Default Tailgate Lock - Help Please

Hi, ive got a 52 reg 1.18LS. Serviced and MOT'd Saturday - did a good job - runs well and I actually have a handbrake that works now!!. Went to open tailgate today for first time since service - nothing.
Armrest switch bleeps and flashes when activated. Lights flash when fob switch used - but boot wont open. No electrical buzzing noises from it either. Lock button in door is solid and wont press in as usual. I can open tailgate manually with key.
Any ideas what coule be wrong. Wouldnt have thought anything involved in servicing would have affected it. Any ideas please.

There's been a couple of threads on here about how the microswitch can get jammed up - try a forum search on "tailgate lock" and you will turn up a few threads.

This one by Duncan may help - its for a signum but I guess the lock mechanism is similar: http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=24978

Folks - PROBLEM SOLVED!! Started stripping tailgate out - gave up when time started to run out. Noticed during service all relevant places -hinges etc had been greased so mechanic had been in boot area. He'd obviously used keys to unlock tailgate- I hadnt noticed that the key slot was now vertical instead of usual horizontal - 15yr old son did! Moved slot 90 deg and hey presto - all okay now. Is this some sort of dead lock positon for the lock?? Thanks for the help.

It just overrides the central locking so the boot cannot be opened if the rest of the car is unlocked.

On the newer Vectra-C's they did away with the keylock and you just have a button.

I prefered the older locking system as if parked in a dodgy area at least you could 'double lock' the boot so if someone managed to frig the central locking at least the boot remained locked, and hopefully made any stuff stowed away in the boot a little bit more difficult to get at.
