    Default CDR2005 power button

The power button on my radio (CDR2005) no longer seems to work unless it receives a hard shove. Is this a know issue? (I've tried searching... honest). If so is there a fix? Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem. Mine has now got a bit worse, when you turn the volume up or down, sometimes it works the opposite way, i.e. volume goes up, when you want it to go down and vice versa. I have spoke to a radio repairer, who said it may be a board inside that's gone, but frankly I think it is simply the switch, because, if you put pressure on the switch at the top or bottom, it works ok.

I am going to take the radio out and have a closer look. It may be difficult to (A) get a new switch or (B) get to it to replace.

The alternative is to look on Ebay for a replacement or the breakers, who will charge around £90.00 secondhand, buy another radio, but lose some of the functions and perhaps looks or live with it until it completely gives up the ghost.

It would be better to use elctrical contact cleaner, as it washes any dirt out and dries completely with no residue.

    rolleyes

I tried contact cleaner and it helped but didn't cure. I even dismantled the radio to see if I could get fluid right into the switch. Unfortunately the switch body is a really tight fit onto the spindle so it's difficult to get much fluid in. At least the button is now intermittent rather than non-existent .

While I had the radio in bits, I added an aux-in socket as per this website (http://www.css-haupt.de/vectra/english.html). It works really well on mine but I didn't mind if I killed the radio in the process so if you're thinking about doing likewise proceed with caution!

The fitting of a stereo input sounds a great idea. I might do that..
