Pinking???

Is there anyway I can tell for definate if the engines is pinking? Starting to really worry about this and whether I've started the process of f00king my engine with this exhaust.

Just for those that don't know the exhaust BSR provide is 2.5" from the cat back and mine is 3" from the cat back to the y-section and 2.5" to the tips. Can anyone with a good knowledge of engines/exhausts give me some info on this please.

You're not going to get pinking due to the different exhaust Mark. Pinking is a combustion related issue i.e. fuelling and air/fuel ratios

You would hear it when driving. Do you use high octane fuel or standard unleaded? Maybe run SUL for a while to see if it makes a difference. It could be possible your getting a bit of detonation, sul would help this.

Pinking wouldn't occur anyway because of the action of the knock sensor. It detects pinking and tells the ECU to retard ignition to eradicate it.

Cheers guys Was BSR that mentioned it when I asked about the exhaust and instantly the panick button was hit then I thought I heard a noise when it was ticking over, but that was obviously the squeaky pulley.

Always use SUL, alwyas have since I got the car and have to with stage 3.

It would have been perfect to really tell what the cars doing, but not to be sadly. Although if Duncan makes it I can at least take some info from that and I hope you get the expected figures this time Ian.
