Default *URGENT!!* HELP!! Car key fobs wont open the doors and alarm going off!!!

Missus has just called me, she went to work this morning and when she went out to the car just a few minutes ago, the key fobs would not unlock the door. She has tried both - she had mine with her as well as her own one and they both appear "dead".

So she manually unlocked the car with the key and the alarm went off.

Shut the door and locked the car with the key again and tried the keyfobs again, still nothing.

Everytime she opens the car with the key, the alarm goes off again.

I'm at work so I can't do anything about it but the main worry is we don't know if the car will start or drive what with the alarm going off as soon as you open it, and the car is parked in a pay and display car park so if it won't start and drive I have no idea what she is going to do!!!

    HELP!!!! Any ideas???!!!

Yeah that should work. It was the only way I could get my alarm to go off when I ran the battery flat last year !

    Cheers guys.

I don't get off duty till 18:00, but I'll try that tonight when I go to her work and meet her there.

So that takes care of the alarm going off, what about the remote keyfobs?. Is there some sort of way to reprogram them if thats all that is needed in this case?.

Thanks, will report back if I am sucessful......fingers crossed!!

It's a clever Vectra, it knows the clutch is about to be ridden and the paint scraped, all that's happened is it's set off it's very own SOS call to you.

p.s don't let her see this reply I like the way I walk.

So you reckon it will be the batteries then?.

Is it not a bit of a coincidence that both remote fobs have stopped working though?.

If so, where can you get these batteries, are they a particular type and will I need to get them from a stealers?.

    Ta.

Check it out when you get home. Sometimes they get a bit tempremental in some places when the batteries get low, like near telecommunication masts. But as above open the door and start it with the key that will stop the alarm.
