im at a bit of a loss as to why someone would nick it, fair enough it had 18"s on it, was in pretty good nick with full leather inside but its done nearly 80,000 miles. Does anyone know how they could have taken it without a key ? all i could find was what looked like the door lock encasement but i didnt hear an alarm or anything, no broken glass, and i still have both keys. would they steal it for parts ? surely not for the fuel .... and how did they drive it away without a key ???

sorry to hear it, I'll keep my eyes open, perhaps they wanted it to be ringed? Maybe they cut the handbrake and pushed it onto a wagon? sounds pro type job.

Could be an opportunist or perhaps stolen for parts ?

I can't remember ever hearing about a Vec C or Signum being stolen without the keys before, that is a new one on me.

I hope it is found for you without too much damage and that the scum bags are found

Sorry to hear about your car.

My neighbours Golf GTi was stolen from her driveway without keys. The police said where you followed home recently. She said about a week ago 2 dodgy men followed her home but drove off. The police weren't surprised it got stolen without keys. My neighbour got her car found minus dash and all the interior. It was fixed by the insurance company must have cost a fortune.

sounds like they cloned the keyfob to me, or cut handbrake and towed (you would think you would hear an alarm, but the veccy one is so quiet its useless).

BTW keyfob cloning doesnt mean copying the key, just the code

i've just been chatting to a local acquaintance who deals with Vauxhalls, apparently, it is know that if the drivers door lock is broken in a certain way the barrel can be turned and the alarm disabled. probably explains why i found the plastic sheath from the drivers lock barrel on the floor this morning. obviously my car was more desirable than i first thought

Not actually asking, but with the Vec being Thatcham Cat 1 how do you clone a key fob? I assume that you record the the code being sent, but this changes every time you use the car doesnt it?

Now that makes sense. I remember the cavaliers could be stolen like this. I removed the door lock (replaced with a rear passenger one) so that you couldnt do this.
