Default 3.0 Cdti sort of lumpy in high gears

    Hi, All,
bit of an odd one, here.
I've noticed that my v6 diesel has an odd, intermittent problem.
When you accellerate in 6th gear from, say, 50, it feels like it's only running on 5 cylinders. Only in 6th, only at high speed.
if you change down to 5th, it's fine.
    Any ideas?

    Phil

What sort of revs are you at in 6th gear?
Have you had a service, new brake pads, or change of tyres recently?
What were the weather conditions like?

I had this for a few months on mine, then it disappeared!
I suspect the 3.0 V6 CDTI prefers cool dry air, to the more recent warm damp air

About 1500 revs in 6th, pulling through to 2K
    Nothing changed recently
Warm and damp when it did it last, but it's done it on a dry evening, too.

Has it had any ECU updates ? The one I got at the beginning of 2007 certainly fixed a similar issue on my V6.

See post - "Somethings Up" and the reply I have had from VX - May be different in yours to the 1.9 150 - but you never know?

If it's a face-lift 3.0 model,it could quite easily be the DPF in regeneration (disintegration, constipation) mode.

Below 2000rpm in 6th gear, the turbo isn't in use
This results in a poor response
Get to 2000rpm, the turbo kicks in, and woosh

Typically if you are driving at 50mph in 6th gear and you want power, then you have no choice but to change down to 5th gear so that the advantage of the turbo is available to you

Sorry to contradict what's been said, but I'll clarify.
It's pre-facelift, so no DPF stuff involved.
It's been fine for the last 39K miles, but the problem has occurred recently.
The turbo actually kicks in around 1200 rpm -try putting your foot down with the window open!
The car has always pulled like a steam train from low revs.
    Any more ideas, folks?

Sounds like a fueling problem, maybe an injector or pump issue?????
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I too have a V6 CDTi Signum with a similar lumpy engine. Mine is an 06, The engine/ Spanner light comes on when I try to accelerate in 6th gear. This car has had previous engine managment problems fixed under warranty, however it has now done 61000 miles and I now have an issue that looks like it's going to be tricky to resolve. I have been told that they have changed the sensor, but this hasn't resolved the problem. It now is waiting for a filter. I'm not too hopeful of a fix at present. If anyone has any ideas I too would be interested to here them.
