    Default Windscreen excess

Dont know if anyone else with directline has noticed but they have introduced a £10 excess when a windscreen repair is done. I personally think this is penny pinching of the first degree. Would guess that other companies will or have already followed suit. Although both our car policies with them have just reduced in premiums for the first time ever so its not all bad.

An excess on windscreens is pretty common actually. I've always had it on mine and I've used several companies

Replacement normally attract an excess, but repairs have generally no excess applied.

I have just moved from DL to somewhere else - mainly due to them trying to rip me off...

A £10 excess on a windscreen repair is daft
I've also noticed that some policies now apply a claim for windscreen repairs, which previously did not, and this excess suggests that applies

In some cases it would be cheaper to pay for the repair yourself, so that you don't pay the windscreen repair excess and/or affect your end of your NCB or number of claims processed and on file
