    Default Insurance!!!!!

My insurance is for renewing in the next month or so, and it's currently with LIVERPOOL VICTORIA:
30 yr old, unmarried male, non smoker, non home owner, 8 yrs NCB, no points, no convictions, parked on street, in L22 area of l'pool (which is a nice part, low crime etc).
2.0 dti, '04 reg vec estate, bog standard, currently around £550 per year....which i think is scandalous
reading a thread recently, and there where people who have points, convictions, no NCB, high risk etc...also declearing mods and where paying far less than me!!!
So, the question i have is,
    • I currently have added 19" snowies to the car, i also have a non-irmy mesh grill, with the view of lowering it and doing a few subtle mods, like angle-eye smoked headlights, siggy fog surrounds etc...no massive bodykits or anything. who would be better insuring it? would it be a "performance specialist" or the likes of directline?. in my experiance these "specialist" insurance companies who claim to "love modded cars / young drivers" always seemed to be higher than normal. as most of the users on this site have mods to some degree, can anyone suggest the company they are with who can quote a decent price including mods, as i dont fancy paying +£500 before i even declere anything!!!!
any help will be apprieciated greatly,as i'm not a boy racer (i've got a modded mk3 escort cabby for that), i'm just average joe who wants a few subtle mods on me vec.....

    cheers guys!

I'm with Tesco's... (Thats right laugh away!) They've ALWAYS been the cheapest for quotes for me on every car I've looked to buy before I got the Signum. I'm 25 and a new driver, passed in Feb, live in Northampton and the Signum's my first car, therefore got no no-claims and very little experience. I added my GF who's 30 (Who has 3 years no claims, although they didn't ask that, only for convictions) and "our" (She doesn't touch my car!) insurance is only £562 per year, it dropped from over £1300! Surely I'm more of a danger than you are, right!??! Maybe you should just find some random over 30 woman to name on your insurance! LOL.

Try confused.com or one of the similar sites - it worked for me and got lots of quotes which varied a LOT. I still think you get what you pay for though, to an extent. I've got nice cheap insurance but their customer support is pants. I wonder what would happen if I had to claim.

Following on from my post here, http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=46224 it's always best to declare anything. Give Chris Knott a call, http://www.chrisknott.co.uk/ as found these the cheapest. Should my car be in an accident, the company i'm with, Highway, will replace the parts with what i've declared, not the standard ones.

    Hope this helps.

hi ya, i am with till the end of the year Hastings direct, they were the cheapest! but now i know why!, my wife got hit up the backside by a ML270 in our 3 series. 2k damage, but Hasting spent days telling untruths. They tried to cancel my claim without speaking to me, asked for name so i caould call back, they give random names out, so when you ring back, "no-one of that names works for Hastings" AVOID!!!!
I will say when (after days of ringing up) finally accepted they will deal with the accident it was repaired in only 2 weeks! local garage stated on my quotes 3 days labour!
So if you want one to avoid - AVOID -Hastings Direct, they are cheap for a reason... fine unless you make a claim.

    good luck

    Admiral "multi-car" policy.

Two cars - 54 plate 2.0 T Sri Estate and 03 plate 2.2 Sxi Saloon for both myself and the missus to drive, both fully comp on both, both protected no claims and business class 1 insurance for me on both. £536 all in, didn't think that was too bad, it was certainly the cheapest I could find.

I have just insured mine with Swiftcover.com. Found these by using moneysupermarket, Confused.com, GoCompare.com etc... 02 plate 2.2 Vectra Elite Auto for me & my girlfriend (33 & 36), fully comp, protected no claims etc. £315.00. The policy is everything I require. I was with Sansburys insurance at a cost of £515. Just goes to show that it is worth shopping around. Good luck.
